LLeC – the eCup returns!

It’s real, ladies and gentlemen. The Lower League eCup proper is here again!

The Twitch streams, the Twitter banter, the collection of clubs from across the country, the bracketology… it’s all back. Last summer, smallworld was pretty involved in the proceedings, fielding a team in the Xbox division (shouts to Group C Fam!) and covering the league’s results week by week.

smallworld doesn’t rest on its laurels, though. We’re not just matching last year’s coverage: we’re doing even more! We’re the title sponsor of the brand-new smallworld Second Division, and because Danny played worthy of a spot in said second tier, we’ve brought in a new face to take us to eCup glory.

Austin Robillard is a soccer writer himself and a quality FIFA player, so we’re stoked to have him represent smallworld in the top tier. While he’s winning silverware for us, we’ll continue to give weekly power rankings in each group of the first division and a Top 5 in our very own second division.

We’ll also do a bracketology show like last year on our shiny new YouTube channel and devote the first podcast of the new year to an eCup preview!

Here’s a more structured schedule of what the coverage will look like:

  • Thurs, Dec 31 – LLeC Week 0 blog post, power rankings after group stage draw on Tuesday
  • Fri, Jan 8 – 1st podcast of 2021, eCup preview as a main topic
  • Mon, Jan 18 – LLeC Week 1 blog post, power rankings after 1 week of action
  • Mon, Jan 25 – LLeC Week 2 blog post
  • Mon, Feb 1 – LLeC Week 3 blog post
  • Wed, Feb 3 – Bracketology Show on YouTube via smallworld and on Twitch via Lower League eCup
  • Mon, Feb 22 – LLeC Recap blog post

With all that excitement on the table, you’ll want to follow smallworld closely on Twitter, listen in to our revamped podcast, and especially follow our new YouTube channel!

More importantly, though, this competition is all about connecting people in the lower-league soccer scene. This January will be an incredible time for supporter’s groups, clubs, and individuals worldwide to unite and play some FIFA. Take the opportunity to follow some new clubs and support them however you can!

Stay weird and support local soccer!
